Responsible Drinking

We recognise that binge drinking is becoming a serious problem in the UK. MHB are concerned by the young adult binge drinking culture. This is an unhealthy trend, the results of which can regularly be witnessed in Accident & Emergency Departments across the UK.

Cheap drink in our supermarkets and ‘two for the price of one’ type promotions in our night clubs are not helping the situation. As producers of alcohol we encourage responsible drinking, but recognise freedom of choice. What is important to us at Malvern Hills Brewery is that our products are consumed in a responsible way by all those who enjoy them.

Beer, being brewed only with natural, wholesome ingredients, can form a part of a healthy, balanced lifestyle when consumed in moderation.

Government recommendations

The UK Government advises that men should not regularly drink more than three to four units a day and women not more than two to three. Consistently drinking four or more units for men, and three or more for women, isn't advisable because of the progressive health risks it carries. After an episode of heavy drinking it is advisable to refrain from drinking for 48 hours.

How much is too much?

The NHS has a handy tool to calculate your alcohol intake. Check it out here

http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/magazine/interactive/drinking/index.aspx

The alcohol content of drinks is measured in units. One UK unit contains eight grams of pure alcohol.

REMEMBER: EXCESSIVE DRINKING CAN CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE TO YOUR HEALTH
